Product Information

  • The Triplett UTG300 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge can detect the thinning of pipes and pressure vessels from corrosion and make accurate measurements of plates and machined parts widely used in petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, shipbuilding, aviation, aerospace and other fields.
  • It has a switchable Metric (mm) or Imperial (inches) readout with a thickness measurement range of 0.04 to 11.81" (1.00 to 300.00mm) and sound velocity range of 3280 to 32805ft/s (1000 to 9999m/s).
  • Results can be viewed on the 2.4" monochrome dot matrix display.
  • High/Low alarms sound when the reading is higher or lower than the user-settable reference and limit values.
  • Select between single measurement, or continuous with real-time min/max/avg.
  • You can manually store/recall up to 300 records with measured value/min/max/avg and sound velocity.
  • A USB-C interface is provided for recharging the battery (Uses any standard 5V/1A charger, not included).
  • Includes 5MHz probe, built-in 3.7V 2000mAh lithium battery with USB type C charging cable, and couplant (0.7oz/20g pouch).
  • Measures the thickness of steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, iron, lead, glass and more

No, the UTG300 cannot be used for thickness of concrete. Because of the concretes grain structure, you would need a specialized thickness tester designed specifically for concrete and other non-homogeneous materials.

Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Tester (UPV):

  • The UTG300 works on most Metals, then there are a few settings for - Glass, Ice, PVC and some Rubber types.
An ultrasonic thickness gauge is a handheld electronic device used to measure the thickness of materials, typically metals and plastics, by utilizing ultrasonic sound waves. It provides accurate and non-destructive measurements of material thickness. An ultrasonic thickness tester is another term for an ultrasonic thickness gauge.
An ultrasonic thickness gauge sends ultrasonic pulses into a material and measures the time it takes for the pulse to reflect back from the material's far side. Using the speed of sound in the material, the gauge calculates the thickness based on the time taken for the pulse to travel.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges are used in various industries, including manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, aerospace, automotive, and marine. They are utilized to monitor corrosion, measure wall thickness, and assess material integrity.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges are known for their high accuracy, often providing measurements within fractions of a millimeter or micron. The accuracy can vary depending on the gauge's specifications and the material being measured.
Yes, some ultrasonic thickness gauges are equipped with dual-probe capabilities that allow them to measure both material thickness and the thickness of coatings or layers on the material's surface.
